CONALT® IRON contains iron in the form of Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate. The main advantages of this special form are:
• High Bioavailability: Elemental iron is absorbed by the intestines more effectively compared to conventional iron salts.
• Gastrointestinal Tolerance: It does not irritate the stomach, and the risk of nausea, constipation, or discomfort is very low.
• Low Dose, Maximum Effect: Even at lower doses, it shows high effectiveness in increasing hemoglobin and ferritin levels.
• Use for Children and Adults: Due to its high tolerance, it can be safely used across different age groups.
The core of CONALT® IRON is ferrous (Fe²⁺) bisglycinate chelate. This form can exhibit similar or superior bioavailability and better gastrointestinal tolerance compared to conventional iron salts (e.g., sulfate); clinical studies have reported its potential to reduce complaints such as nausea, abdominal pain, and constipation. Some studies have shown that similar hemoglobin/ferritin responses can be achieved with lower elemental iron doses.
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) based enteric capsules are designed to dissolve in the small intestine rather than the stomach; this can increase tolerance for users with sensitive stomachs. However, literature notes that some enteric or extended-release iron forms may have lower absorption; therefore, individual clinical conditions and laboratory monitoring are important. (In CONALT® IRON, the goal is to maximize absorption while increasing tolerance.)
Iron absorption is enhanced in the presence of ascorbic acid and reduced by phytates, polyphenols, calcium, and some medications. CONALT® IRON, along with usage guidance (timing/separate intake recommendations), aims to maximize absorption in real-life conditions.
Thanks to the bisglycinate chelate form, many users can tolerate it on an empty stomach or with a light snack. In necessary cases, alternate-day dosing strategies may be considered under physician guidance; this approach has been shown in some studies to enhance absorption due to hepcidin dynamics.
The product’s positioning focuses on achieving ferritin/TSAT targets, reducing symptoms, and supporting laboratory-based monitoring. It is compliant with the EU’s authorized health claims framework.
